About a year ago I raided my grandma’s old coats that she no longer wears and scored myself some amazing vintage pieces. Funnily enough, as someone who isn’t a big fan of pink, I left this amazing blush coat…until I went back at the start of this winter and thought I’d found gold! And this is why you should NEVER underestimate what trends will make you wear and why you should keep those classic, really well made pieces, even when they do go out of style, because they are sure to come back.
Although I never thought I’d be caught dead in pink, I’ve found myself wanting more and more of this blush colour lately. I make it a rule not to buy too much of the most trending colours because I don’t want to be stuck with something I won’t like come next season (hence my monochromatic wardrobe). But when I come by them for free I can’t help myself.
In addition to this coat being the most beautiful shade pink, when it comes to winter I am all for oversized coats. Mainly because you can wear about three layers underneath without looking like you’ve gained winter weight and are busting out of your clothes!
Although us females are used to the suffering and discomfort of fashion (I’m talking about you stiletto heels and strapless bustiers!), when I’m dressing day-to-day casual in winter, I refuse to be cold just to look fashionable. But that’s not to say you can’t be both, it’s all about that effortless layering look. My go to is a Bassike long sleeve with a fine knit over the top and then chucking on one of my many oversized coats.
